About this talk

In this session, ideas for solutions to the challenges, dreams for the future, and opportunities for ordinary people to help one another will be shared. Moderated by Leonie Joubert, Daily Maverick journalist and author of The Hungry Season and Tomatoes & Taxi Ranks, and including diverse speakers from the Local Voices series: three ordinary people with extraordinary insights into our broken food system and what might make it work better. Sindiswa Manxeba, a retired domestic worker from Imizamo Yethu, Benson Arendse, an Ocean View entrepreneur, and Traci Kwaai, a 6th-generation Kalk Bay fishing community activist. What they have to say may surprise you, move you to tears, or inspire you, but it will certainly change the way you think about our food system.

The session will include opportunities for attendees to ask their questions and share their own perspectives and experiences.
